Director of US Policy
About ICAW: The International Council for Animal Welfare is a campaigning organization that advocates for improved animal welfare standards in the supply chains of the world's largest food companies. We were founded in September 2024 and are a small team of highly experienced, dedicated animal advocates. We focus solely on high impact, tractable issues that will reduce the greatest amount of suffering for farmed animals globally. The exclusive focus of our organization is running and developing creative campaigns and tactics to become maximally effective at influencing food companies to make a positive change for animals. Every team member is expected to be a motivated contributor to achieving our ambitious goals.
The Role: We are hiring a Director of US Policy to lead our efforts in cage-free accountability campaigns for US food companies. The primary focus of our campaigns will be ensuring retailers in the US take meaningful action to fulfill their cage-free policies, potentially impacting hundreds of millions of animals per year. This will include conducting deep research into our corporate targets, creating impactful strategies to target companies digitally, helping organize public demonstrations and stunts, garnering media attention for our campaigns, and coordinating launches of investigative footage. ICAW is highly focused on developing innovative campaign strategies and tactics and the ideal candidate is someone who can think outside of the box to pressure companies into taking action. This is a remote, highly self-directed role that may require occasional international and domestic travel a few times per year and does not involve managing direct reports.
